About Us

I purchased Loon’s Landing in the spring of 2005 from Patti and Bob Young, the owners of Timberwoods Resort. Patti and Bob, active in the resort business for 20 years, owned and managed Timberwoods for 10 years. Nearing retirement, they converted the resort into a cooperative association and sold its 6 log cabins and 65 RV lots.

My interest was piqued when my son-in-law, an avid fisherman, called to say he discovered the resort while fishing on Clearwater Lake. A native Minnesotan, I moved to the east coast in 1998, intending to spend summers on a Minnesota lake when I retire in 3 to 5 years. My daughter and son-in-law were so impressed with the cabin, resort, lake, and location that I contacted the Youngs and purchased the cabin sight unseen. The best part was that it is everything they said it would be, and the Youngs were wonderful to do business with.

The Youngs planned well, building the resort into a family friendly recreational retreat with a new fish cleaning facility, children’s play center, and new dock system.

My son-in-law has assured me that he has not (yet) caught all the fish in the Clearwater Lake Chain, so grab some bait at nearby BJ's Bait Shop (320-274-3730), where you can rent a boat and fishing supplies, and give it a try!
